Yehoshafati Elton
Executive Secretary
Yehoshafati Elton is a co-founder and Executive Secretary of the Blue Economy Organization (BEO) Tanzania. With a robust academic foundation and extensive hands-on experience, Yehoshafati holds a bachelor’s degree in aquatic sciences and fisheries from the University of Dar es Salaam. His professional journey reflects a deep commitment to the research and conservation of both freshwater and marine environments. Yehoshafati’s passion for aquatic research is evident through his active involvement in various workshops and conferences since 2020. Notably, he participated in a dialogue hosted at the French Embassy in Dar es Salaam, focusing on the impacts of plastic pollution on marine and freshwater ecosystems. His expertise in this field is complemented by his previous roles with the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) in Kigoma and the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) Tanzania, where he honed his skills in data collection, analysis, report writing, and the management and conservation of aquatic resources.
Currently, Yehoshafati is advancing his expertise as a Master’s student in Marine Biology at Zhejiang Ocean University. In his role as a research assistant in the Marine Ecology Laboratory, he is engaged in investigating the genetics of benthic organisms, specifically polychaetes and worms. His work aims to deepen the understanding of these vital components of marine ecosystems and contribute to their conservation. Through his diverse experiences and ongoing research, Yehoshafati Elton continues to make significant contributions to the field of aquatic science, dedicated to the sustainable management and preservation of aquatic resources.
