John Sikule Sabuyi
Founder and Executive Director
John Sikule Sabuyi is a Founder and Executive Director of the Blue Economy Organization (BEO) in Tanzania. In addition to his role at BEO, John serves as a Research Assistant in Marine Biology and Marine Remote Sensing at Zhejiang Ocean University, where he is also pursuing his Master’s degree in Marine Biology. His research focuses on the relationship between chlorophyll-a concentrations and small pelagic fish catch data along the Zanzibar coastal zone using remote sensing technology. He is a holder of the First Batch of Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science from the Institute of Marine Science (IMS) Buyu-Zanzibar campus of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). John’s professional journey includes significant research as a staff member at Africa Lakes Network (AFLANET), specifically in Lake Victoria, to ensure the health, productivity, and value of the resources of the lakes in Africa to promote a sustainable blue economy. Also, he worked as an internship research assistant at Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) on aquaculture and fisheries research activities. He is recognized for his expertise in research analytics, geoinformatics, remote sensing, aquaculture, fisheries, and blue economy strategies. A dedicated and team-oriented leader, John is passionate about continuous learning and embracing new challenges.
